Recently, our senior account specialists Cassie Montgomery and Mary Catherine Ratliff shared their industry knowledge at the Auburn Chamber of Commerce’s Marketing Boot Camp.

Marketing Boot Camp is an opportunity for Auburn Chamber of Commerce members to learn from local marketing experts during a variety of educational sessions. Cassie and Mary Catherine’s session focused on the importance of strategic content creation and incorporating branded storytelling in an overall marketing plan

Here are some of the tips from Cassie and Mary Catherine:

  1. Develop your brand’s voice
  2. Create an organized content calendar
  3. Diversify your messages to be promotional, informational, educational and inspirational
  4. Create unique content for each of your marketing channels
  5. Use both real-time (ad hoc) and “anytime” (evergreen) content
  6. Make sure your messages are both cohesive and complementary to one another across all outlets

“Research tells us that people connect with stories more than just facts and figures,” said Cassie. “We wanted to share this research with the workshop attendees and encourage them to look within their own organizations for their unique brand stories that will help them build stronger connections with their audiences.”

There are countless options for content to create for your brand, and it’s important to be strategic when creating content specifically for your audience. A few ideas for content are:

  • Videos
  • Website content
  • Social media posts
  • Blog posts
  • Trade show booth
  • Printed sales material
  • Podcast
  • Digital and traditional advertisements

“We had a wonderful experience talking to members of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce about how great storytelling and content development can enhance their brands,” said Mary Catherine. “Each person in attendance is working toward building their credibility and market in the local area, and great content can give their organizations a way to effectively reach their audiences.”
